Tory Blues: A Cartoon History of the Conservative Party

This book charts the history of the Conservative Party through political cartoons from Benjamin Disraeili to David Cameron. Chapters presenting cartoons chronologically are supported by summaries of political history. The first chapter reviews the changing style and the possible impact of cartoons and the relationship between cartoonists and press barons especially Lords Beaverbrook and Rothermere in the 1930s. Wholly new insights appear which review the use of cartoons in biography and autobigography, and in addition ten former Conservative Ministers give their views on cartoons.
