The Quest for Health Reform: A Satirical History Paperback – October 5, 2012
by Georges C. Benjamin (Author), MD (Author), Theodore M. Brown (Author), PhD (Author), Susan Ladwig (Author), MPH (Author), Elyse Berkman (Author)

The Quest for Health Reform: A Satirical History brings together two American political traditions – editorial cartooning as a medium for trenchant contemporary commentary and the long-standing effort to achieve universal national health reform. As early as the nineteenth century, caricatures and cartoons parodied the leading personalities and institutions in American politics. This book focuses on national health reform as told through the vision of popular editorial cartoonists.

Review
“A vivid and timely account of the lurching history of American health care which is simultaneously thought-provoking, informative and entertaining — and a hats-off salute to the role of cartoonists!” –Rosemary A. Stevens, PhD., Weill Cornell Medical College

“This is an insightful approach to telling a uniquely American story about health policy. It’s a memorable journey through U.S. health reform history, and a cautionary tale about the obstacles facing all those who seek health care justice.” –John E. McDonough, DrPH, MPA; Harvard School of Public Health
