The Sacred Art of Clowning… and Life! Paperback – January 8, 2012
by Cleone Lyvonne Reed (Author)
How does one move out of an abusive marriage and transform her thinking so that she can manifest a wonderful marriage based on love, mutuality, and respect? That is the journey that Cleone took, starting with her debut as Chloe the Clown in 1994. Through her six clown characters (she calls herself a multiple personality of a deliberate kind), she sees each clown as representing different ages/stages of her life. And that each moment of our life is sacred, something to honor and accept. As a Caring Clown (versus a Circus Clown), she spread love and joy to countless people in hospitals, nursing homes, parade routes, workshops, putting loved ones into clown, etc. But what she found was the recognition of her own self-love and appreciation! She decided she didn’t need to be a clown anymore and quit in 2004. What made her return to clowning in 2010? How is clowning a SACRED ART? How does that relate to life? Answers to these accompanied by 109 pictures and illustrations tell her story.

Biography
I, Cleone Reed, am the author of several books including “The Sacred Art of Clowning… and Life!” Some are very little books, such as “I Am Mrs. Santa Claus” and “The ABC’s of Alliteration: All Amusing Allegories in Tongue-Twister Tales to Stimulate Speaking Success.” My latest book, written in response to a 24 X 36-inch poster (fits in a standard frame) called “The Path to Healthy Relationships” produced by Robert D. Reed Publishers, is called “The Path to Healthy Relationships: It All Begins With You.”
In addition to writing books over the years, I work in my husband’s publishing business (www.rdrpublishers.com) overseeing production of our books. I often design book covers, sometimes edit the books, create promotional materials, and launch the books on our distributor’s website, our website, Amazon Kindle, etc.
Careers before this: I was a social worker for thirteen years, a licensed mental health counselor for ten years, and a professional clown for twenty years (the clown work overlapping my years as a therapist and as a writer). I have a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin and about 500 hours of training in clowning. I last clowned as LuLu in La Paz, Mexico for children in a neighborhood with no running water and no electricity through a non-profit organization called Care for Kids La Paz One of the most delightful things about being in the publishing business is that my husband and I can create friendships with our authors and have fun. There are no professional ethics about being friends with authors as there was with clients when I was a therapist. We lead a very full life, traveling and working from the road, and often meeting authors in our travels.
