This book was worth purchasing. Ding Darling was probably the best newspaper cartoonist ever. He worked on The Des Moines Register and Tribune for many years. It’s too bad that The Des Moines Register is going down hill so much. Published by the Cowles family of Des Moines, who later created a monopoly in the Minneapolis newspapers, The Des Moines Register once had one of the highest Sunday circulations in the country. It was was “Iowa’s Newspaper” and served the 3,000, 000 Iowans for years. No longer. Other Iowa citiy’s newspapers have taken away its “Iowa’s Newspaper” title away from it. The Internet, and the Register’s lack of adapting, is now its final downfall…
